Budget 2016-17 is built on nine pillars: Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said while presenting the annual Budget 2016-17 on the last day of February that his presentation was built on nine pillars. They are: 1) Agri/Farm and welfare 2) Rural Focus 3) Social Healthcare 4) Education and Job creation 5) Investments to improve quality of Life 6) Infratructure Focus 7) Ease of Business 8) Fiscal discipline 9) Tax Reforms India is a bright spot among the slowing global economy. Bold measures have hleped India stay ahead. Indian economy has held its ground firmly. Foreign reserves touched $350b. Five lakh acres to be brought under organic farming over a three- year period. A sum of Rs 35,984 crore has been allocated for Agriculture in 2016-17. A dedicated irrigation fund worth Rs 20,000 crore is to be set up under NABARD. We must strengthen firewalls against risks through structural reforms; rely on domestic market so that growth does not slow down, he added.
