Simply avoid drought reports next year, CM tells collectors

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the District Collectors to ensure that there're no drought-like conditions in the next financial year. But if the collectors report drought-like conditions next year, he would not tolerate such reporting. Why is Chandrababu making fuss about drought next year, which is in nobody's hands? This year when the State reported extreme drought in several districts, the Centre did not bother about the reports and in fact gave a pittance as relief for the State. The indices that the State and the Centre use to determine drought maybe at variance. Earlier, he told the District Collectors about the primacy to the programmes of the government. He also added that while there was a big lacuna in the State finances, AP managed considerable growth. If the pace of growth was maintained, the State would surely achieve double digit growth next year also. The collectors had given a good account of themselves in the year, and they should continue with the same spirit.
