All set for absolving Kanhaiya Kumar of anti-national charge
Amidst reports that Kanhaiya Kumar, JNU students union president, has made a confession, the Delhi police are stated to be inclined to withdraw the damaging sedition charge against him, it is learnt. Earlier even the BJP top leadership had fallen for the accusation that Kanhaiya had indeed made anti-India slogans at the March 9 meeting in the JNU campus. But since then the opposition Congress and others such as the leftists had stuck to their contention that while Kanhaiya may have participated in the pro-Afzal Guru meeting ex officio, he had not raised anti-India slogans. This much is brought out by the video available to the police and others. While the video shows the JNU student being active in the meeting, the audio was no help on the slogans raised by all those there. Conveniently, the audio was now silenced so that no one could prove, one way or the other, that he had really raised anti-India slogans. In fact, in one photo opportunity, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, leftist leaders Sitaram Yechury and Raja, and Congress Anand Sharma were huddled together trying to find in the smartphone of Jaitley whether Kanhaiya had indeed raised the slogans. In any case, there is a clear instance of Kanhaiaya being allowed to escape for reasons other than alleged and denied by the respective parties. The withdrawal of the sedition charge appears to be rooted in the alleged confession made by Kanhaiya, wherein he may have absolved himself of the crime. Since he belongs to Bihar and is active in JNU as student, Kanhaiya may not have anarchic background, wherein destruction is the only motive. It's possible he may have some other activism background, wherein the concern is purely the downtrodden. For example, he being the son of an anganwadi worker. Anarchism is irresponsible destruction, found only in Delhi. Therefore, Kanhaiya with his Bihari background is all set to get away. The subtle distinction was not recognised, unfortunately, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself who had once called Arvind Kejriwal a naxalite. In any case, Kanhaiya gets away just by his name, if nothing.
