Police DIG makes progress as pilgrim
The DIG of AP police, Kanta Rao, has become a pilgrim walking through the Seshachalam forests to trap the redsanders smugglers. Wearing a white shirt and white dhoti, Kanta Rao walked from Papanasanam in the Tirumala Hills through Thamburu Teertham, Srivarimettu and Cheekatigalakona. Like the pilgrims plead with the Lord that they do not see Him despite climbing thousands of steps, the DIG was getting tired. Past Cheekatigalakona, he saw some 100 smugglers crossing his path. Kanta Rao alerted the police party behind him. The smugglers realised some danger in the alert raised by the police officer. They left the redsandgers logs they were carrying and fled for their lives. The accompanying police chased them but could catch only two of them. The two smugglers happened to be those who were wanted in connection with the killing of an antler in the Zoo Park on the Tirumala Hills. Kanta Rao has come in for much praise from the police top brass for his novel method to catch redsanders smugglers.
