Lagdapati Rajagopal making a rich comeback?

Everything about Lagdapati Rajagopal is sensational. He rendered the swan song for his political career, which he tied up with the split of the combined AP. It was sensational enough in the annals of parliamentary history. At the time, he took a principled stand to leave politics, which had not helped his pet cause of AP remaining united for the good of the Telugu people as a whole. His party, the Congress, gave a big hand to the Telugus. He, therefore, had to quit politics. But he used the pepper spray gun in Parliament, because of which many a Congress MP pretended to be taken ill. In the confusion worse confounded, the AP Reorganisation Bill was passed amid Congress heavyweights and others forming a defensive ring around the then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh. In the event, the Congress committed a virtual hara-kiri having lost both the Telugu States, and eventually India as a whole. Now, to coincide with Lagadapati's birthday, flexis have appeared all over Vijayawada, appealing to their leader to come out of his self-exile and rejoin the political mainstream. A day later another brand of fliexis appeared in the city, asking the former Congress MP whether the Rs.75,000 crore that he had taken from banks for his construction and other projects and since been written off as bad loans was not sufficient loot. Titled `Want Some More' in the Dickensian sense, these flexis stated that he would be back in politics for looting `some more thousand crores of public money' and greeted him with hearty happy birthday best wishes. Lagadapati fans are, however, not amused by the opposite brand flexis. They made it a point to tear up all the flexis opposed to their leader. The mutual tearing up of flexis has caused some tension in the area. The police are out in strength to prevent a fight between Lagadapati favourites and opponents. There were stories meanwhile that Lagadapati would be joining the BJP, which was in power at the Centre. Can the clean Narendra Modi government afford such a heavyweight with so much background? The past was okay with the Congress NPAs sky rocketing, but the new dispensation of the BJP-led government should go down with, if nothing, its clean image.
