Foreign Prime Minsiter sets record in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established a record of sorts by not going abroad in the last 46 days. But for the March 31 meeting of the nuclear powers in the US, if Modi continues to stay put he would be 82 days in a row in India. That would be the longest stay of the Prime Minister in the country after the 72 days continuous stay during 2014-15. Modi stay in the country is required at this juncture, with the budget session starting shortly. Thereafter, there will be elections in the States of UP, Punjab, Tamil Nadu among 8 States going to the polls this year. Energised by elections, Modi would not be missing the poll fray for anything. Besides, he is the biggest poster boy for his party. Already Modi is stated to have informed the Overseas Friends of BJP that he would not be taking up foreign visits this year. After coming to power at the centre, the Prime Minister has visited 28 countries so far. Last year, in all he was abroad for 54 days. When the Prime Minister is so footloose, it is sad that the opposition parties want him to react on all unsavoury incidents that invariably happen in opposition-ruled States such as UP and Karnataka. The parties in those States simply heap the responsibility on Narendra Modi in New Delhi, while they enjoy the spoils of the office. Besides, they call it intolerance!
