NIA probe reveals local support to Udhampur terror attack

Local help is increasingly becoming a factor in terror attacks from across the border. The Pathankot attack, apart from police officer Salwinder Singh, also showed considerable local support, but the investigating agencies have not been able to prove it with proof so far. Last year, a BSF convoy was attacked by terror elements from across the border in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. The National Investigation Agency, which is probing into the attack, has now found that the Pakistani terrorists had arrived in Udhampur two months earlier. The NIA was now concentrating on who sheltered the terrorists for 2 months, and what did they do during the period. But they have been able to establish that the Udhampur terrorists had local support. The NIA submitted its report to the Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday with the stipulation that the time for mollycoddling was up and some punitive measures need to be taken against the local elements that sheltered the terrorists. The government and the people must be prepared for tough measures against terrorists, their supporters and their handlers. Any failure points to current West Asian abyss.
