Smriti rings up Rohith's mom Radhika

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi opening up on Rohith Vemula, the research scholar of Hyderabad Central University who had committed suicide over his suspension from the university facilities, on Friday, Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani followed it up by ringing up Rohith's mother, Radhika, and condoled with the death of her son. Expressing delayed shock over the death, Smriti assured the mother of a judicial inquiry into her son's suicide. Justice would be done to her in regard to Rohith, she added. Paticipating as chief guest in the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University convocation, the Prime Minister had expressed his profoundest sympathies for the mother. He described Radhika's son as the doting son of Bharatmata. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, whose letter was purported to be instrumental in effecting Rohith's suicide, had already expressed his deep regrets over the death. The ABVP leader, Susheel Kumar, had similarly expressed his deep shock over the death. With the judicial inquiry underway, the matters on HCU campus are expected to settle down and the students and scholars would go ahead with their academic pursuits.
