BJP MLA's car attacked; Premsingh quits party

Local BJP workers at Uppal in Hyderabad attacked the car of their party MLA, NVSS Prabhakar, on Thursday morning on the ground that the MLA had failed to secure a seat for their leader in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. The BJP workers stopped the car of Prabhakar at Uppal cross-roads and damaged it, even as the MLA tried to reason with the workers. Prabhakar lodged a complaint with the police in regard to the attack. The police are trying to identify those behind the attack with the help of CCTV. Like the other parties, the disciplined BJP is also facing internal fights owing to disagreements on the party nominations in the GHMC elections. Former Ghoshamahal MLA Premsingh Rathod of BJP resigned from the party protesting against the denial of party tickets to his supporters. Premsingh alleged that the party was giving nominations to new comers and forgetting BJP workers. Meanwhile, it is learnt that Premsingh was dissuaded from resigning by Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya. But the leader would not listen.
