Student demo at Ramnagar leads to arrests
Students continued their demonstration at the residence of Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya at Ramnagar in Hyderabad on Wednesday. They are demanding the Union minister's resignation holding him responsible for the suicide by a research scholar in the Hyderabad Central University. They alleged that the letter written by Dattatreya to the Human Resources Ministry was instrumental in the suspension of five students, including research scholar Rohith Vemula. On Tuesday, Telangana Jagruti organised the demonstration. The All-India Student Federation (AISF) joined the demonstration on Wednesday. They reiterated that Dattatreya must quit. The police intervened. Both the students and the police pushed each other. Before the demonstration could get out of hand, the police took two students into custody. Following the arrest, matters worsened and tension prevailed in the area. At the bottom is a documentary shown on the HCU campus by five members of the Ambedkar Students Union there relating to terrorist Yakub Memon, which caused all the problems for the university students.
