Encounter Specialist Daya Nayak back in duty as Mumbai faces terror threat

Encounter Specialist Daya Nayak, who accounted for 80 killings including three of Laskar-e-Toyyiba terrorists in Mumbai, has rejoined duties in the metropolis. Daya Nayak, who had reserved his unkindest cut to criminals in Mumbai, was suspended on false grounds in 2006, it is now gathered. Following the clean chit given to him in the disproportionate assets case, the supension order has been lifted. Daya Nayak, a 1995 batch police inspector, was originally suspended for 6 years. In 2012, he was given a posting in Nagpur, which is not his locus standi, and he refused to go. Daya Nayak went on a long leave. Owing to his refusal, the top cops in Mumbai suspended him again. Now that the suspension has been lifted, people are curiously awaiting as to his next posting. While the top cops may be jealous, or gangster Dawood Ibrahim's machinations are still working in the Mumbai police, Daya Nayak has been kept out of the loop. Government sources believe that Daya Nayak's services are vital in the terror-laden atmosphere in the country, especially Mumbai. Some even go to the extent of saying that the police could have given a better account of themselves had Daya Nayak been around during 26/11. For, the encounter specialist had already accounted for three terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Toyyiba of Pakistan. The Encounter Specialist also accounted for gangsters Vinod Matkar, Rafiq Daba and Sadiq Kalia. As for Dawood Ibrahim, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had reportedly almost got him trapped, but for a quisling in the Mumbai police who squealed to the gangster. Dawood might be in Pakistan. But he can still be got with officers like Daya Nayak in the Mumbai police ranks. The criminal-police-terrorist nexus has reached dangerous proportions. The time for the authorities is to act now. It's not for nothing that many crime films had been inspired by Daya Nayak. He is vital for the metropolis to ward off terrorist attacks.
