Bassi's keen eye catches a fraudster on the road

Here's an instance that tells us Bassi is blessed with an extraordinary power of observation and action. After the end of day's work, the Police Commissioner was returning home with a police officer on Wednesday. On the way, he happened to see a car with curious registration numbers of UP and the legend Delhi Police. Not having ever seen such a thing, Bassi decided to apprehend the car-driver. There was a car chase and the car brought to a halt. The car-driver began to give evasive answers. At first he said his name was Vivekanand Sharma. He told the Police Commissioner that he was an Assistant Police Commissioner in the Vigilance section of the Delhi police. Asked to produce his ID Card, the man changed his identity also. He said he was a lawyer, and the person driving the car is his wife. Both were going to a relative's place. Owing to the dubious answers, the local police ordered an inquiry. Vigilance and police officials reached the spot. On inquiry, they found that the man was from Noida, and the car did not belong to him. He was immediately arrested and put in the lock-up. The police would have to tell us about the man's escapades as vigilance official and also as assistant commissioner of police.
