Facebook post puts Burmese woman in jail

A Facebook post has put a Myanmarese woman in jail for 6 months. The woman, Cha Shandy Toon, had compared the colour of clothes of the junta leader and those worn by Aau Sang Suu Kyi. Both men and women wear lungis in Myanmar. She posted her comment and then put the question, "If you love your mother, why don't you wear the lungi worn by the mother as turban around your head?' This was not to the liking of the junta leaders, who have for long put Suu Kyi under house arrest, although she is the daughter of a hero of Burma. The post caused quite a storm in Myanmar. In October last, Toon was arrested for the offensive post. This was despite Toon's lawyer arguing that Toon's Facebook account was hacked and that the post was made by the hackers. The court did not agree with the argument and instead jailed Toon.
