Hyderabadi biryani yet to get global recognition

Hyderabad is famous for its biryani dish, but there's no global recognition yet for the favourite food of millions of people. Referring to a question on GIR recognition to Hyderabadi biryani, Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the application in this regard was filed on July 28, 2009. The government scrutinized the application during the discussions on September 5, 2010, and April 28, 2013. But the applicant was yet to provide the necessary documents. That is why the matter was still pending. The question was asked by TRS MP Jitender Reddy.
