CP denies political pressure: Call Money racket

The Vijayawada Commissioner of Police, Gautam Sawang, has denied political pressure on him in the Call Money racket investigations. Talking to newsmen, he further rejected a suggestion that some top political leaders were involved in the racket. The probe so far did not find any such evidence. There was speculation that Gautam had preferred going on leave than to succumb to alleged political pressure. The Commissioner clarified that he had planned for the leave 2 months ago. He would be back to resume work on December 27. He added that there would be no let-up in the investigations because the in charge Police Commissioner was an able police officer who had already worked as the Vijayawada Police Commissioner.
