AP comes up with new Port Policy, Maritime Board to be constituted
Hyderabad, Nov 27: Andhra Pradesh Government today announced and adopted the AP Port Policy 2015. The policy aims to harness the advantages of the state's 974-km long coastline. AP is to have a dedicated Maritime Board that plans, develops and monitors all ports in the state including concessions to stakeholders. The State is also aiming to achieve at least 15 per cent share in cargo handling by 2019. AP has one major port at Visakhapatnam. In addition, it has 14 non-major port locations like Meghavaram, Bhavanapadu, Bheemunipatnam, Kalingapatnam, Nakkapalli, Gangavaram, Kakinada Deep Water, Kakinada SEZ, Narsapur, Surasena Yanam/Rawa, Machilipatnam, Vodarevu, Krishnapatnam and Nizamapatnam. The policy will become operational from the date of its notification. Its provisions will be reviewed and revised every five years.
