Bauxite Mining: Chandrababu faces opposition from Ministers

Hyderabad, Nov 08: TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is facing stiff opposition from several quarters over bauxite mining issue in Visakhapatnam district. Not only the opposition parties, Maoists and civil society groups, a section of TDP leaders, MLAs and Ministers are opposing the move to allow bauxite mining in the Agency areas (Tribal areas). Locals launched a mass movement when YS Rajasekhara Reddy's government gave permission for bauxite mining. Chandrababu, who was the Leader of Opposition at that time, opposed bauxite mining. It may be noted that Maoists abducted and released three TDP leaders recently in protest against the government's decision to give nod for bauxite mining in the area.
