Amaravati is future of Andhra Pradesh: Chandrababu
Vijayawada, Oct 16: Capital city is to state like heart to body, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. In an interview to a Telugu news channel today, the CM said that Amaravati is the future of Andhra Pradesh. The CM said the decision on the capital city was taken in a transparent manner and as per the suggestions of all sections of the society. Stating that cities will generate more revenue, Chandrababu lauded the farmers for voluntarily giving 33,000 acres land for capital city. The capital city would be constructed on the banks of river Krishna and all necessary measures would be taken to reduce the impact of floods on the city. The revenue generated from the capital will be sufficient for its development. World-class infrastructure is necessary to increase lands value and Singapore provided master plan for the capital city free of cost, he added. Amaravati will have 8 to 9 zones and first phase of the city would be completed by 2018. Massive afforestation programmes would be launched to improve green cover and irrigation projects would be completed as per schedule to insulate the state from drought, he said. AP has lengthy coastal line and tourism would be given second priority after Information Technology. Plans are afoot for the balanced development of all regions in the state, Chandrababu asserted. Jagan was speaking against the capital city since beginning and was trying to pick holes in a programme intended for public welfare, he commented.
