Environment ministry gives green nod for Amaravati works: Union minister

Hyderabad, Oct 14: Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar just now announced that his ministry has completed the process of giving approvals for the construction of Amaravati city. Speaking to media in New Delhi this morning, Prakash Javadekar made this announcement even as AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was taking off to the national capital to meet prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP ministers. It may be recalled that the National Green Tribunal had served notices to AP government asking it to stop construction works at Amaravati as there were no environment clearances for the same. A retired IAS officer, EAS Sarma, had also raised objections that Amaravati project is yet to receive the statutory environment impact appraisal. Now, with the environment approvals, their will be no more hurdles for the capital development works.
