100 special flights expected for foundation laying ceremony
Hyderabad, Oct 7: The Telugu Desam Party government is said to be expecting guests to arrive in at least 100 special flights from different parts of the world to attend the foundation laying ceremony of Amaravati on October 22. Since the Gannavaram airport near Vijayawada is not having enough space to accommodate to park planes in such large numbers, the state government is trying to get the required clearances for diverting some of the flights to airports at Hyderabad, Rajahmundry, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam. Arrangements are also being made to fly the dignitaries and other special guests from the airports to the function venue by helicopters. At least 13 helipads are being developed close to the venue. Further, the government is erecting at least three separate stages for the invited guests.
