AP nativity: Students, experts oppose 2017 deadline
Vijayawada, Oct 06: Students and intellectuals are strongly opposing the government's decision to give local status to only those who return to state by June 2017. Students and experts are demanding clarity on the issue as it well adversely affect students' career. The AP students who join Telangana engineering colleges this year cannot move to AP before 2017 as their studies will be in progress. Several students and youth organisations have announced that they would launch protest against the government's decision. Similarly, employees associations have asked the government to consider a 'saving clause' in this regulation for the students who cannot complete the education by 2017 or in the middle of a course by 2017. When compared to Telangana, AP lags behind in framing rules to decide nativity. It may be noted that Hyderabad High Court has raised objection to ignoring local quota while filling seats in Sri Padmavathi Medical College in Tirupati. A section of intellectuals are of the opinion that there would be a sudden influx of settlers from Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana to AP and it will create more problems as local job-seekers cannot compete with those moving from Hyderabad.
