Govt's failure led to farmers' suicides: Uttam Kumar Reddy

Hyderabad, Sept 30: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy today blamed the state government for the farmers' suicides. On the second day of the two-day discussion in the state legislative assembly's monsoon session on the issue of farmers' suicides, the Congress leader said the TRS government's failure has led to the farmers' suicides in the state. Stating that farmers were committing suicides due to pathetic conditions, Uttam Kumar said so far 1,400 farmers had taken their lives in the state. Stating that in the past during its rule in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, the Congress government had brought in a law under which bankers and money lenders were bound by a moratorium and gave the debt-ridden farmers sufficient time to repay their loans.
