Cow is the national animal of Nepal

Kathmandu, Sep 23: Nepal has declared cow as its national animal. Cow is sacred to Hindus and a majority of people in Nepal practice Hinduism. Nepal has adopted a new constitution on Sunday. As per the new constitution, cow has constitutional protection and cow slaughter has also been banned. It may be noted that several states in India have also banned cow slaughter. Directive principles of state policy enshrined in the Indian constitution bans slaughter of cows, other milch and drought animals.
