Guntur scientist appointed UoH VC
Hyderabad, Sep 22: Prof. Appa Rao Podile has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad on Monday. Appa Rao is a faculty member of the Department of Plant Sciences in the university.
Appa Rao is a gold medallist in MSC, he has PhD from Sardar Patel University and is a post-doctoral fellow from the Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica, Taiwan.
Appa Rao guided 17 PhD students so far. Appa Rao said that he was the youngest of the three-shortlisted candidates for the coveted post.
Appa Rao said that he would be in constant touch with Minister of HRD and Ministry of Science and Technology to secure more funds for the development of the university.
Improving the university's world ranking is his top priority, he said.
