TS rattled as 13 farmers die on one day

Hyderabad, Sept 21: The news of 13 hapless farmers committing suicide across five districts of the state in a single day on Sunday has rattled the TRS government of Telangana. The suicides take place even as the state government has announced its decision to increase the ex gratia to Rs 6 lakh from the current Rs 1.5 lakh. The suicides are perhaps the highest on a single day in the country. The suicides took place despite the state government's claim that it was taking all steps to come to the rescue to the distressed farmers. Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, reacting on the suicides, appealed to the debt-ridden farmers to seek help from the district-level officials.
