Govt to stop issuing NORI certificate to US-bound doctors

Delhi, Sep 11: The Government of India has decided to stop issuing NORI (No Objection to Return to India) certificate to the doctors who want to pursue post graduation courses in US. The certificate is mandatory if the Indian doctors who pursue post graduation in US want to work there. With this the Indian students pursuing post graduate medicine degrees in US should compulsory return to India. The government took the decision to tackle the problem of brain drain. India is facing 82 per cent shortage of surgeons, physicians and paediatricians. According to reports, a majority of the Indian doctors migrate to foreign countries due to lack of jobs and opportunities.
