Two girl students commit suicide

Kadapa, Aug 18: Two first-year Intermediate MPC girl students allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves at the college hostel at Narayana Junior College at Chintakomma Dinne mandal headquarters near here yesterday. Nandini (16) was a daughter of Malepadu Subba Rao, resident of Om Shanthi Nagar in Kadapa and her friend Manisha (16) was daughter of Ch Balakrishna Reddy, resident of Bhakarapet of Siddavatam mandal. Both were childhood friends and they committed suicide in the same room by hanging themselves from the ceiling fans using chunnis. The relatives alleged that harassment by teachers led to the suicide and ransacked the furniture in the college. They said that the college management did not inform about the death immediately. They said no action was initiated even though the harassment was brought to the notice of the college principal. Police registered a case and took up investigation. According to reports, the lecturers pressured both the victims to score higher marks. YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy will call on the bereaved family members at RIMS in Kadapa.
