No fresh notice to Speaker over defections: HC
Hyderabad, August 7: High Court division bench expressed its reluctance to issue fresh notice to the Speaker of Telangana State Assembly regarding the pending petitions before him which sought the disqualification of certain TDP, TRS and YSRCP MLAs who joined the ruling TRS government. The bench said it would deal with the matter based on merit. TDP, Congress and YSRCP leaders of Telangana filed petitions against their leaders who joined the ruling TRS without resigning to the parties whom they belonged. They sought the court to take action against these leaders under Anti Defection Law. Telangana TDP leader E Dayakar Rao filed a petition seeking the court to issue direction to the Speaker to speed up the hearing on disqualification of three TDP MLAs Talasani Srinivas yadav, Teegala Krishna Reddy and Challa Dharma Reddy. He said the Speaker refused to accept the notice of the court, sent through a special messenger. When asked about this, Advocate General of Telangana K Ramakrishna Reddy said the Speaker usually does not accept any notices from any court. And he has the right to reject the notices and the Court has no jurisdiction to question him in this regard.
