TTD to deposit 1,000 kg gold in SBI
Tirupati, Aug 05: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD)is planning to deposit 1,000 kg of 'scrap gold' in State of Bank of India under gold deposit scheme. Speaking to the press persons at Tirumala near here, TTD Executive Officer D Sambasiva Rao said that TTD has been depositing gold in several public sector banks. The bank will send the scrap gold to Mumbai Mint. The gold will be melted after removing stones and it will be deposited in the bank. So far TTD has deposited 5,000 kg of gold in various banks. According to an estimate, the temple receives 80 to 100 kg gold every month.
