Amaravathi to bid for Olympics
Rajahmundry, July 23: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the State government will bid to host Olympic games at Amaravathi. The CM regretted that the country stood last in Olympic medals list despite having population above 100 crore. He said that state-of-the-art sports infrastructure will be developed in Amaravathi to host the games. Chandrababu reiterated that efforts would be made to achieve 100 per cent literacy in the state within four years. He suggested teachers to inform parents if the children were absent to school. He called upon the teachers to improve educational standards. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivasa Rao and others were present. It may be noted that Chandrababu Naidu government successfully hosted the Afro-Asian games at Hyderabad in 2003.
