No mention of special status in AP Reorganisation Act: Venkaiah

Delhi, July 22: Union Civil Aviation Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said that AP State Reorganisation Act-2014 is not having any special provision mandating special status to AP. Speaking to the media here, Venkaiah said that Union government was examining the AP MPs demand to amend the Act. Venkaiah Naidu strongly demanded for special status during the debate on the bill in Rajya Sabha and assured that BJP will confer special status to the state for 10 years but now he had taken a U-turn. Meanwhile, another Union Minister Sujana Chowdary said that background work was completed and Centre would confer special status to AP soon.
