Mumbai, Oct 31 : Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh shared an emotional moment with a woman police officer during his live concert in Delhi on Friday.

He saluted the personnel for their service and said that seeing the officer reminded him of his mother.

The singer, who was performing in the national capital, paused his performance to acknowledge the security personnel present at the venue and urged the audience to give them a big round of applause.

As the crowd cheered, Diljit saluted the personnel and expressed his gratitude towards them, saying, "If you are not here, we wouldn't feel safe."

He then shared a heartfelt moment with a woman officer in uniform, whom he called on stage. The singer affectionately placed his hand on her head and revealed that he could see his mother in her.

"I get to meet my mother once or twice a year. But when you were standing there, I thought my mother was standing," he said.

"Today my mother called me. She said, 'Take care of yourself.' I said, 'Good things will happen, don't worry.' Looking at you today, I thought it was my mother who was standing with me," he added.

The singer also appeared to acknowledge the efforts of the entire police team in ensuring the smooth conduct of his concert.

Taking to his social media account after the concert, Diljit gave a special shoutout to his Delhi fans. He wrote, “Shoutout to Delhi FANS. Delhi Police, the CRPF, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and BookMyShow Live. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.”

Talking about his gesture towards the police personnel, it comes at a time when the Delhi Police has recently been in the spotlight following a series of confrontations during protests at Jantar Mantar.

During the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led march towards Parliament in July, many videos of clashes between protesters and security personnel went viral on social media.

The confrontations saw police personnel facing allegations of excessive use of force, while videos also showed heated exchanges and physical altercations between the two sides.

Delhi Police personnel, including women officers, were also reported to have faced physical assaults and misbehaviour while performing crowd-control duties.
