Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been closely monitoring the situation as Cyclone Arnab continues to severely affect the state. Remaining awake throughout the night to obtain regular updates on ground-level conditions, the Chief Minister held another teleconference with senior officials at 6:15 am on Wednesday to review the latest developments and ongoing relief operations.
During the teleconference, Chandrababu Naidu spoke with district collectors from cyclone-affected areas, Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) officials and personnel involved in relief operations to assess the prevailing situation.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the cyclone was currently crossing the coast and that heavy rainfall was expected across the state on Wednesday and Thursday. They reported that thousands of trees and electricity poles had been uprooted in several districts due to the cyclone's impact.
The Konaseema district collector informed Chandrababu Naidu that approximately 6,000 electricity poles had been damaged in the district alone. The collector also reported that strong winds continued to affect the region despite a reduction in rainfall. Officials stated that electricity supply had been suspended in affected areas as a precautionary measure.
Reviewing the situation, Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to immediately clear fallen trees and begin restoring electricity supply as soon as the cyclone's intensity subsided. The Chief Minister also instructed authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent tanks and canals from overflowing.
District collectors briefed Chandrababu Naidu on the relief measures being undertaken in their respective districts. The Chief Minister directed officials to further accelerate relief and restoration operations to address the impact of the cyclone.
