Janhvi Kapoor Slams AI-Morphed Explicit Video of ‘Chuttamalle’ Song from Devara as ‘Sexual Assault
Janhvi Kapoor has strongly condemned the circulation of an AI-generated explicit video that morphs her performance in the popular romantic track “Chuttamalle” from the 2024 film Devara: Part 1, co-starring Jr NTR. The actress described the non-consensual deepfake content as equivalent to sexual assault and highlighted the growing threat of technology being misused against women.

In a detailed Instagram Stories statement, Janhvi Kapoor wrote: “Using technology criminally to objectify women and circulate fabricated content without their consent is a serious violation. It is almost equivalent to sexual assault. Almost every woman in my industry has faced this in some form. Now women everywhere are becoming victims of it.”

She emphasised the fundamental importance of consent, choice and respect for a woman’s body. “If a woman says ‘yes’ for five days and ‘no’ on the sixth, that ‘no’ must be respected. Wearing a miniskirt does not give anyone the right to place a camera under it or exploit her body. What a woman is comfortable with, where she draws the line, and what she chooses to do with her body are solely her decisions.”

Janhvi noted that the recent AI videos targeting her form part of a larger pattern of objectification and boundary violations that women face both offline and online. She called for a shift in mindset that raises individuals with the belief that they have the right to violate others’ boundaries, rather than simply advising people to “protect your daughters.”

The actress thanked Jr NTR for speaking out strongly, saying his public stand as a widely admired star gives courage to every woman who has faced such behaviour. She also expressed gratitude to Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda and Khushbu for their support.

Jr NTR was the first to respond on October 3 via X (formerly Twitter). He called the video “disgusting, nauseating and shameless,” stating that using AI for such purposes is beyond shameful. He warned of strict legal action against those who created and shared the content, urged the public not to view or circulate the video, and appealed to the government to introduce stringent regulations against AI misuse. Invoking the cultural ideal of “Matru Devo Bhava” (mother is god), he stressed the need to respect women.

Actor Vijay Deverakonda termed the act “digital sexual assault” and demanded harsh punishment for the perpetrators. Support from senior industry figures, including Chiranjeevi, has further amplified the condemnation.

The original “Chuttamalle” song from Devara: Part 1 had gained massive popularity for its romantic appeal. The AI morphing of the track into explicit content has triggered widespread outrage and reignited calls for stronger laws and regulations to curb deepfake technology and non-consensual intimate imagery.

The incident underscores the urgent need for robust legal frameworks and societal change to protect women from digital exploitation.
