The annual Brahmotsavam of Kaliyuga Daivam Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala commenced with great grandeur on Tuesday evening with the traditional Dwajarohanam ceremony. At the same time, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu offered silk clothes (pattu vastralu) to the Lord on behalf of the state government. The sacred hills of Tirumala resonated with the chanting of “Govinda” during these two key events.
As a mark of the beginning of the nine-day festival, the golden flag bearing the Garuda emblem was hoisted on the Dwajastambham in the presence of Sri Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi. The ceremony was performed by temple priests amid Vedic chants by scholars and auspicious musical instruments. As per tradition, the Dwajarohanam invites all deities, the Ashtadikpalakas, and all living beings to the Brahmotsavam.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu arrived at Renigunta Airport in the evening, where he was given a warm welcome by TDP leaders. He then proceeded to Tirumala along with his family — wife Nara Bhuvaneswari, son and State Minister Nara Lokesh, and daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani.
Dressed in traditional attire, the Chief Minister first offered prayers at the Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple. He then carried the silk robes on his head and entered the main temple in a ceremonial procession accompanied by mangala vadyams, before offering the vastrams to Lord Venkateswara. After the offering, he had darshan of the Lord and performed special poojas. Temple priests recited Vedic blessings and presented theertha prasadam to the Chief Minister and his family.
TTD Chairman BR Naidu, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, other leaders, and officials accompanied the Chief Minister. Popular music director Thaman was also present at the temple on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said it was his good fortune to offer silk clothes to the Lord on behalf of the state government during the Salakatla Brahmotsavam. He prayed to Lord Venkateswara for abundant rains in the state and for the health, happiness, and prosperity of the people. He also wished that Andhra Pradesh becomes the best state in the country and that India emerges as a global leader.
Highlighting the deep faith of millions of Hindus worldwide in Lord Venkateswara, the Chief Minister appreciated the TTD Board and officials for the disciplined and transparent management of the temple, describing it as an inspiration for other temples in the country. He urged authorities to ensure that no devotee faces any inconvenience during darshan and called upon everyone to preserve and pass on this great tradition and culture to future generations.
Ministers Nara Lokesh, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Anagani Satya Prasad, TTD Chairman BR Naidu, Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra, and other board members participated in the programme.
