Rs 25,000 for heart, Rs 5,000 for liver
Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), July 5: Illegal organ trade in flourishing in Uttar Pradesh. Local youth conducted a sting operation and struck a deal with government mortuaries staff for purchasing human organs. The employees reportedly demanded Rs 20,000 for heart, Rs 5,000 for liver of a person who died recently and Rs 2,000 for liver of the person who died a month ago. Sources said that the staff were selling human organs to sorcerers. The youth submitted the sting audio video record to police. The youth conducted sting operation as vital organs were found missing in unclaimed bodies preserved at government morgues in and around Meerut city. Senior health officers expressed shock over the scandal and beefed up surveillance. Police registered a case and took up investigation.
