Chandrababu Naidu Calls for Integrated Amaravati Capital Region Encompassing Vijayawada and Guntur
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to develop Amaravati not merely as a cluster of 29 villages, but as a comprehensive, world-class capital region by integrating it with the neighbouring cities of Vijayawada and Guntur.
Speaking during a high-level review meeting on capital construction works held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister emphasised that infrastructure projects in Vijayawada and Guntur must be developed in synergy with Amaravati to give shape to a truly integrated mega capital.
Naidu instructed officials and contracting firms to execute the projects with the mantra of “Speed, Quality, and Delivery.” While acknowledging some improvement in the pace of works compared to the past, he stated that the current speed was insufficient and asked contractors to significantly accelerate progress.
“The government is ensuring there are no financial constraints. Therefore, there should be no delays whatsoever,” he asserted. He urged contracting companies to make the best use of this rare opportunity to be part of a historic capital city project.
The Chief Minister revealed that 95 projects worth Rs 50,999 crore are currently at various stages of implementation in the capital region. He set a target of completing at least 7.92 percent of the works every month.
He directed all government departments and senior officials to ensure seamless coordination on critical aspects such as land acquisition, fund mobilisation, approvals, and design finalisation. He also stressed the need to focus on road development alongside extensive greening initiatives.
Naidu announced that he would personally monitor the progress of capital works through field visits from now onwards.
The review meeting was attended by Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. S. Sai Prasad, senior officials of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), and representatives of various contracting firms.
