Chandrababu Naidu meets Singapore PM, discusses partnership opportunities

Amaravati, June 15 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Singapore on Monday and sought cooperation in technology, semiconductors, quantum computing, Artificial Intelligence, and university research

The meeting between the two leaders lasted for 30 minutes at the Singapore Prime Minister's official residence.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he sought Singapore’s support in developing the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and in capacity building.

The CM sought cooperation in urban governance for Amaravati and other urban areas across the state.

CM Naidu posted on X that they discussed new opportunities for partnership between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh.

“Our discussions focused on semiconductors, AI, quantum technologies, R&D, university partnerships, urban governance, leadership development, logistics and advanced manufacturing,” he said.

Chandrababu Naidu said he also shared Andhra Pradesh’s progress in developing Amaravati as a globally benchmarked capital city with world-class infrastructure and institutions.

“Prime Minister Wong appreciated the vision and progress and expressed confidence in its future potential. We also explored cooperation in natural farming, aquaculture, food exports, healthcare, clean energy, green hydrogen and green ammonia,” he said.

The Chief Minister invited Singapore’s government-linked companies and industry leaders to partner with Andhra Pradesh in Amaravati’s growth and contribute to a future driven by innovation, sustainability and economic opportunity.

The Chief Minister informed the Singapore Prime Minister about the cultivation of crops using natural farming methods in Andhra Pradesh.

The CM requested a review of the possibility of Singapore importing horticultural and aquaculture products from Andhra Pradesh. He stated that efforts are underway to ensure certification and traceability for produce grown through natural farming

CM Naidu proposed that Andhra Pradesh and Singapore work together to capitalise on various opportunities, including the development of ports and airports.

According to the CMO, Singapore PM Lawrence Wong specifically inquired about the construction of the capital city, Amaravati. The Singapore PM asked for details regarding educational institutions, infrastructure, and construction projects being executed to international standards

The Chief Minister stated that Amaravati is poised to join the ranks of the most liveable cities

They also discussed public health, infrastructure development and population management. The two leaders discussed the issue of declining populations worldwide.

The Chief Minister informed the Singapore Prime Minister that Andhra Pradesh is moving towards generating 160 gigawatts of green energy.

Discussions were held regarding measures such as affordable housing and childcare.
