Nara Lokesh Continues Russia Visit Amid Drone Attack Concerns
Amid heightened tensions triggered by drone attacks near St. Petersburg, Russia, Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh proceeded with his scheduled participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), underscoring his commitment to promoting investment opportunities in the state.

The security alert was issued just hours before the opening of SPIEF after reports of drone attacks linked to the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict. At the time, Nara Lokesh was travelling from Moscow to St. Petersburg for a series of pre-arranged meetings with investors and business leaders. He was informed of the attacks while en route, prompting security assessments and precautionary reviews.

Despite the developments, Nara Lokesh chose to continue with his itinerary and attend the forum as planned.

Sources familiar with the visit indicated that the decision reflected an effort to honour commitments made to prospective investors interested in Andhra Pradesh. With global competition for investments intensifying, maintaining credibility and consistency in government engagement is considered an important factor in attracting business partnerships.

After arriving in St. Petersburg amid the security alert, Nara Lokesh continued his engagements without altering his schedule. He met with investors and industry leaders, presenting Andhra Pradesh’s investment potential and discussing opportunities across various sectors.

While reports of the drone attacks drew international attention, Nara Lokesh continued his outreach efforts, focusing on investment promotion and economic development initiatives for Andhra Pradesh throughout the summit.
