Justice Lisa Gill Sworn In as First Woman Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court
Justice Lisa Gill made history on Saturday by taking the oath as the first woman Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan in Amaravati, where Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer officially administered the oath of office.
Prior to the ceremony, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu paid a courtesy visit to Justice Lisa Gill. He extended his warm wishes and congratulated her on the historic milestone of becoming the first woman to head the state's highest judicial institution.
Hailing from Chandigarh, Justice Gill brings decades of extensive legal experience to her new role. After securing her law degree from Punjab University, she commenced her legal practice as an advocate in 1990. Throughout her career, she built a strong foundation by handling a wide array of civil, criminal, and constitutional cases at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. She was later elevated as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in March 2014.
