Revanth Reddy covering up KCR family’s corruption: MoS Bandi Sanjay Kumar
Hyderabad, April 21 : Union minister of state for home affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Tuesday accused Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of making every possible effort to cover up the alleged corruption by the family of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
He said during the 2023 elections Revanth Reddy had alleged that corruption worth Rs 1 lakh crore had occurred in the Kaleshwaram project built by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government but after becoming the Chief Minister, he wrote a letter to the CBI requesting an inquiry limited solely to the construction of the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages, a component worth only Rs 9,000 crore.
Talking to media persons, he argued that for KCR's corruption to be exposed, an inquiry into the entire Rs 1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram construction project is necessary. He alleged that Revanth Reddy, however, with the specific intention of shielding KCR, is seeking a CBI inquiry only into the three barrages built with a flawed design.
He challenged Revanth Reddy to write a letter to the CBI requesting an inquiry into the entire Rs 1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram scam, if he truly has the courage to do so.
The BJP leader alleged that KCR and Revanth Reddy have colluded. He said while they publicly hurl abuses at each other, they are, in reality, colluding to devour the people of Telangana.
He remarked that KCR and Revanth Reddy are the twin curses plaguing Telangana.
The BJP leader said the BJP would soon write a letter to the people of Telangana regarding the dealings between KCR and Revanth Reddy, and the theatrics they are resorting to on the Kaleshwaram project.
Bandi Sanjay accused Congress and the BRS of distorting the comments made by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.
“Tejasvi personally told me that he had drawn a parallel between the activists of the Telangana movement and the patriots of the nation. During the Partition of the country, hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives due to the policies of the Congress Party and the British. Tejaswi stated that 1,400 people sacrificed their lives due to the blunders committed by the Congress party regarding the Telangana issue,” he said.
Surya had made the remarks in Lok Sabha last week during a debate on the Women’s Reservation Bill, triggering outrage from non-BJP parties in Telangana.
They alleged that Surya likened the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana with the division of India to create Pakistan.
Congress leaders, including Telangana minister Ponnam Prabhakar, demanded Lok Sabha Speaker to expunge Surya’s remarks from Parliament records and initiate action against him.
