Amaravati Emerges as India's Next Premier Educational Hub

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s capital, Amaravati, is rapidly evolving beyond its administrative role to emerge as one of India’s premier educational hubs. Backed by strategic state planning, the region is now attracting elite national and international institutions, transforming the capital into a comprehensive centre for academic excellence.

Spearheading this new wave of development are upcoming campuses from top-tier institutes like the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani) and XLRI Xavier School of Management. BITS Pilani is developing the country’s first 'AI Plus' campus with an investment of ₹1,000 crore, designed to accommodate 7,000 students. Similarly, XLRI has signed an agreement with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to establish its third Indian campus in Amaravati, following its establishments in Jamshedpur and Delhi.

These new additions will integrate into an already thriving academic ecosystem. Institutions such as VIT-AP, SRM University, Amrita University, and the National Institute of Design (NID) are currently operational, providing quality education to  students. The state government actively supports this expansion; recently, the cabinet approved the construction of academic buildings up to 60 meters in height at SRM University in Neerukonda.

The educational infrastructure extends to primary and secondary schooling as well. Prominent networks, including Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and the DAV Group's Rythu Vidyalaya, are setting up campuses alongside several international schools.

To facilitate this massive growth, the APCRDA has allocated over 838 acres of land to 18 educational institutions, solidifying Amaravati’s future position on the national education map.
