CEC permits AP Govt to conduct Bhumi Puja on June 6 for Capital city
Hyderabad, June 4 ,2015: The Central Election Commission has given clearance to AP Government to conduct its proposed programmes on June 5, 6 and 8 including the Bhumi Puja for construction of the capital city on June 6. In a letter written to the state election commission, the CEC has informed that it has no objection for the AP Government to go ahead with its proposed Bhumi Puja on June 6 and public meeting on June 8. However, the Central Election Commission made it clear that the Government should not make any policy statements or announce new schemes due to election code being in force. The Government is likely to shift the venue of the June 8 public meeting proposed at Guntur to Eluru if permission is not granted by the Guntur district Collector. The public meeting is proposed to coincide with the formation day of the state.
