India Creates History: Young Tigers Clinch Record 6th Under-19 World Cup Title

The Indian Under-19 cricket team has once again asserted its global dominance by defeating England in a high-scoring thriller to lift the World Cup trophy. In a dominant display of skill and nerves, India secured a massive 100-run victory at Harare, clinching the prestigious title for a record-breaking sixth time.

High-Octane Batting: Suryavanshi’s Storm

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India posted a humongous total of 411/9 in their 50 overs. The protagonist of the innings was opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played a legendary knock. Suryavanshi dismantled the English attack, scoring 175 runs off just 80 balls, decorated with 15 boundaries and 15 towering sixes.

Key contributions from the middle order ensured the momentum stayed with India:

Ayush Mhatre (Captain): 53 runs (Solid half-century)

Abhigyan Kundu (WK): 40 runs

Kanishk Chauhan: 37* off 20 balls (Late flourish)

England’s Spirited Chase

Chasing a mountain of 412 runs, England started aggressively. Ben Dawkins (66) and Ben Mayes (45) provided a brisk start, but Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals to keep the required rate climbing.

England looked down and out at 177/7, but Caleb Falconer turned the game into a spectacle. Falconer smashed a sensational 115 off 67 balls (9 fours, 7 sixes), threatening a miracle. However, despite a brief partnership with James Minto (28), the target proved too steep. England was eventually bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs.

The Bowling Heroes

India’s bowling unit remained composed under pressure:

RS Ambrush: 3 wickets (The pick of the bowlers)

Kanishk Chauhan & Deepesh Devendran: 2 wickets each

A Legacy of Dominance

With this win, India adds a sixth trophy to their cabinet, having previously won in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022. The celebrations at Harare were electric as the young champions paraded with the Tricolor, marking another golden chapter in Indian cricket history.
