IMD issues red alert on heat wave conditions

Hyderabad, March 23: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued a red alert on the severe heat wave conditions prevailing in the country. With temperatures shooting up in almost all the state in the country, IMD told people to take all precautions as the temperatures are likely to up further during the next few days. Till date, unofficial reports say over 400 people are said to have died in the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. IMD officials said hot dry winds blowing from the desert region of Rajasthan state was the reason for the sudden spurt in the temperatures in Telangana state, Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh state and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state.
