Polavaram project: Affected people file plea in Supreme Court

Hyderabad, May 22: In a significant development, people living under the Polavaram project area are said to have filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India today demanding justice. People, who are likely to be evacuated from near the project area, appealed to the Supreme Court to direct the Andhra Pradesh government to provide proper rehabilitation centres before asking them to move out of their homes. Failing which, they said they will not vacate the homes. As the Supreme Court is in vacation, the court is likely to pass its judgement on the issue in June this year.
