Is AP showing mercy on farmers within CRDA limits?
Hyderabad, May 16: There are indications that Andhra Pradesh government is having a rethink on invoking the AP Land Acquisition Act to take away lands from unwilling farmers located within the capital region. Does this mean that the government is showing mercy on those farmers who are not willing to part with their farmlands for the development of the capital city Amaravati? What is the reason for this rethink? Is the government planning to convince the farmers once more? Or, is it waiting for the lapse of 145 days after the passing of the Act? According to sources, the state government is believed to have issued directions to the revenue officials to initiate land pooling talks with farmers from Undavalli and Penumaka villages. Only if those fresh talks fail, the government has decided to issue notification in June invoking the AP Land Acquisition Act, sources said.
