Our Family Was Devastated by the Vijayawada Caste Clashes: Actor Ram Pothineni

Actor Ram Pothineni revealed that the caste clashes which took place in Vijayawada in 1988 brought drastic changes to his family’s life. He stated that his family lost everything they had built overnight because of those clashes. Ram shared these details while participating in the television show Jayammu Nishchayammura, hosted by Jagapathi Babu, where he discussed several interesting incidents from his life.

Ram Pothineni said he was born in Hyderabad, as his mother hailed from there. Later, their family moved to Vijayawada. He recalled that during the 1988 caste clashes in Vijayawada, their family lost everything they had earned up to that point. Consequently, his father moved the family to Chennai, where he started life afresh from the beginning.

The actor reminisced that during their time in Vijayawada, there was a large room in their house dedicated solely to his toys. However, after relocating to Chennai, they had to live in a house not even half the size of that toy room. Ram said it was heartbreaking to lose everything after working so hard to achieve stability. He added that despite the hardships, his father never gave up and managed to rebuild their lives through perseverance. Ram expressed deep respect for his father, saying that his determination and resilience inspired him greatly.

Speaking about his personal interests, Ram Pothineni mentioned that he loves travelling. He said that whenever he gets some free time, he switches off his phone and goes on trips. When he visits new places, he often tells people that he is a student, as interacting with more people allows him to learn many new things.

Discussing his film career, Ram said that he always remembers the advice given to him by Megastar Chiranjeevi after the success of his debut film Devadasu. Chiranjeevi advised him to treat every film as if it were his first and to continue working hard with the same dedication. Ram said this guidance has remained with him throughout his career.
