9,600 Schools with One Teacher per Class.. This is a Record in the Country: Minister Nara Lokesh
Education Minister Nara Lokesh stated that the coalition government has taken a significant step to improve education standards in government schools across the state. He said that the government has implemented the “one teacher per class” policy in 9,600 primary schools statewide, claiming that no other state in the country has achieved this milestone on such a large scale. He made these remarks while responding to questions raised by members in the Legislative Council.

Nara Lokesh recalled that during the tenure of the previous government, due to Government Order 117, only 1,200 schools had access to one teacher per class. However, he explained that after the current government assumed office, this number was increased to 9,600. He emphasized that the primary objective is to ensure that students in government schools attain guaranteed skills in foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), and teachers are being encouraged in line with this goal.

Highlighting the importance of moral education, Nara Lokesh announced that renowned preacher Chaganti Koteswara Rao has been appointed as an advisor to help instill ethical values among students. He praised Chaganti Koteswara Rao for his selfless service, noting, “Chaganti Garu is not taking a single rupee from the government. He does not even accept a phone or a water bottle. We are printing and distributing the excellent books he has authored to students.”

On the issue of private corporate school fees, the minister said that matters related to the Andhra Pradesh School Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission (APSERMC) Act, 2019 are currently under judicial consideration. He warned that if reports of special classes being conducted for Scheduled Caste (SC) or Backward Class (BC) students in private schools come to light, strict action would be taken, as such practices will not be tolerated.

Nara Lokesh also said that the government is treating the findings of the National Achievement Survey (NAS) with utmost seriousness and reiterated that the government’s ultimate goal is to provide quality education in public schools.
