Body blow to Govt as 300 farmers approach HC seeking back their lands
Hyderabad, April 30, 2015: In a body blow to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's plans to go ahead with the first phase construction of the capital city, 300 farmers of the capital region on Thursday filed a petition in the High Court of Judicature here seeking direction to Government to return their lands for which they have already given consent letters earlier. The petition will come up for hearing tomorrow. Reports said some more farmers will also approach the High Court seeking back their lands for which they had already given consent letters to the CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority). High court had earlier directed the government not to harass the farmers and not to take lands from those who are unwilling to give their lands. The earlier HC orders came on petitions filed by some groups of farmers. What is noteworthy is that all those farmers who have approached the state apex court today had already given their consent letters to the Capital Region Development Authority. "We are not interested in giving our lands to the construction of the capital city. We want to take back our lands," the farmers told the HC in their petition, seeking necessary directions to the Government.
